About CFRHIO
The Central Florida Regional Health Information Organization (CFRHIO) was formed in 2003 to facilitate electronic medical information exchange between providers in the area. Led by a volunteer board of medical and community experts, Central Florida RHIO represents Brevard, Lake, Osceola, Orange, Polk, Seminole and Volusia counties and works with the nationally respected Florida Health Care Coalition to provide residents with high-quality medical care.
CFRHIO is a partner with the federally funded Central Florida Regional Extension Center, a venture with the University of Central Florida College of Medicine. The CFRHIO is currently available at 11 emergency departments in the Florida Hospital and Orlando Health medical systems and is expanding to connect community health centers, physicians, additional hospitals and other providers.
CFRHIO's Vision
Our community-repository model RHIO will continue to evolve as we add providers to the health information exchange during the next three to five years. It will improve patient safety, inform clinical practice, streamline quality improvement and health status monitoring, accelerate research and dissemination of evidence-based guidelines while lowering health-care costs. Its interoperability will extend to other RHIOs, the Florida Health Information Exchange and the National Health Information Infrastructure as they are developed.
CFRHIO's Organizing Principles
1. Oversight and governance without regard to size or financial leverage of any organization.
2. Collaboration in care delivery with explicit aim of improving health status of all residents.
3. Available to all caregivers and consumers who consent to participate.
4. Compliance with current State and Federal patient privacy regulations.
5. CFRHIO was incorporated in the State of Florida in 2006 and is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization.
